NEW
ROMNEY NEWS
School children from New Romney put their sea skills to
the test when they travelled with P&O Ferries on board
the Pride of Canterbury to learn about life on the ocean
wave.
Michael Gregory, Deck Officer Cadet for P&O, accompanied
the group of youngsters from New Romney Church of England
Primary School as they toured the ship and learnt first-hand
what working on board a ferry is really like.
Michael has been visiting the school in his free time to
help educate the children on shipping. He helped put together
workshops covering a range of topics including practical
seamanship, which was a favourite with the class. They learnt
how to use ropes and pulleys, tie knots and plot nautical
charts.
