NEW ROMNEY NEWS
New Romney is set to get a Community Warden as part of
the latest expansion planned by Kent County Council.
It will bring the number of community wardens in Kent
to 100 by the end of the financial year.
Councillors have also approved the expansion of the highly
successful scheme to urban areas outside town centres
and additional funding of £323,000 this year.
The warden scheme aims to reduce crime and fear of crime,
to address anti-social behaviour and low-level crime and
to help build strong communities and has been enormously
successful. It is supported by Kent Police both in training
and in police back-up.
Kent's Chief Constable Mike Fuller told the Cabinet that
the warden scheme provided a high degree of reassurance
to communities in the county and lessened the fear of
crime.
