PRESS RELEASE FROM MARSH FORWARD...
We are pleased to announce details of an exciting new joint
venture between Romney Resource 2000 Limited and Marsh Forward.
Working in partnership we have set up a computerised funding
workstation, which is available to all local groups looking
for funding. The really good news is that it is free of
charge too.
We know that there are many groups in serious need of cash,
who are struggling to find sources of funding. Many local
volunteers spend inordinate amounts of time submitting applications
to the wrong type of funders; resulting in a high number
of negative responses. In the long-term this is demoralising
and can lead to the premature winding up of some very good
groups.
We have decided to create a Marsh-based funding resource
that is readily available to everyone working on community
projects. We hope it will help the survival of established
community groups and will lead to the setting up of many
new community-benefit schemes.
“We would like to see our workstation lead to a greater
success rate for applications from Romney Marsh; by people
targeting the right funder, submitting high quality applications
and having better access to advice groups such as the Council
for Voluntary Services.”
From 10th May 2004, when the workstation is launched, groups
can contact the Resource Centre on 01797 367455 and arrange
a time to come and use the workstation. Resource Centre
staff will be trained on the new software and will be able
to assist those looking for funding. Also the Resource Centre
have a large number of machines with internet access, that,
for a nominal fee, can be used to visit funders’ websites.
Each user will come to us with details of the project they
are looking to fund; they enter those details and in return
receive a list of groups that have funded similar projects.
In addition, we shall have contact details for a variety
of support groups and will have a list of recommendations
on how to submit excellent funding applications.
“We feel that Marsh groups need to have a Marsh facility;
somewhere local that they can get useful funding advice.
There are a significant number of funders looking to allocate
money to projects on Romney Marsh and we know that there
are many groups looking for funding. We hope that the workstation
and the advice we are giving on funding applications will
be an invaluable means of attracting a lot of investment
onto Romney Marsh.”
“This project is a perfect way to illustrate the benefits
of partnership working – the Resource Centre and ourselves
are helping each other and are benefiting the wider Marsh
community at the same time by working together.”
